WELCOME TO THE 2012 SCOTT VALLEY SEA SERPENT SEASON!!
Online Volunteer Sign Ups will open on February 25 and close on March 2.
2012 SVST Volunteer Contract
The Scott Valley Sea Serpents Swim Team is a 100% parent-run organization. Unlike most other sporting activities for school-age children, a swim team can ONLY function with full parent support. It takes upwards of 75 parents to run a single meet for our team!
Parent volunteering is not an option but a necessity for your own children and all the other team members. Therefore, each parent is required to support the team by volunteering.
As a volunteer, each parent is expected to work at:
• Time Trials if you have "meet" jobs during the season. Time Trials counts as 1 shift for "meet" workers.
• Regular Season swim meets, which are held on Saturdays from May through June. At least 5 shifts required or equivalent in non-meet volunteer job activities.
• Championships, which takes place on July 14th.
The Sea Serpents are responsible for the Snack Bar at Champs this season. In addition to the regular volunteer jobs for Champs we will need a team to organize the Champs Snack Bar. *If you are interested in coordinating the Snack Bar at Champs it will fulfill ALL of your Volunteer duties for the season.** Contact Annie Porter seaserpentspresident@gmail.com
There are a variety of jobs available during the regular season. See the complete list of the jobs available, with descriptions below. For more information on a particular job, contact the team volunteer coordinator or another parent.
By the way, just because you’re working, doesn’t mean you have to miss your child’s race. OTHER PARENTS ARE ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO COVER FOR YOU WHILE YOU WATCH YOUR SWIMMER! We are all working together!
It is your responsibility to know where and when you have been scheduled. Please know that if you miss your shift it affects us all. If there is an emergency and you cannot cover your shift, it is your responsibility to find a replacement, and contact your section volunteer coordinator in advance. If you miss a shift without finding a replacement, you will be charged $100 for each missed shift. Bills in this amount will go out the week following the meet wherein the shift was missed.
If it is absolutely impossible for you to commit the volunteer time necessary we have a buyout option.
The volunteer buyout is $400/person or $600/couple. Please contact the Team President at seaserpentspresident@gmail.com to arrange a buyout.
Families who have not signed up for Regular Season Shifts will receive a bill for the buyout amount on the Monday following Time Trials.
