Paul has been the Aquatics Director & Head Coach of the Scott Valley Sea Serpents swim team since the fall of 2001. He has over 15 years of coaching experience in Marin County.
Aquatics have always been a big part of Paul’s life. He started swimming competitively at the age of four and swam and played water polo at Novato High School and Loyola Marymount University.
Named “Coach of the Year” in 2004 by the Marin Swim League, Paul has led the Serpents to a second place finish during the last six swim seasons. Prior to joining the staff at Scott Valley, Paul served as assistant coach for the Novato Riptides and Lucas Valley Lightning swim teams. He also coached the Marin Catholic girls water polo team for 10 seasons with his twin brother David.
Tom began teaching at Scott Valley in 2004 as the Assistant Swim Coach for the Sea Serpents swim team. In addition to the swim team, he works alongside Paul Stasiowski with the Junior Sea Serpents swim program. Tom coaches the Scott Valley masters group as well as provides private swim instruction for all ages and abilities within the community.
Tom has always enjoyed racing and has competed in track, cycling, triathlon and swimming events over the course of his athletic career. As an athlete, he was blessed with truly wonderful coaches that positively influenced his life. Combined with his joy for the water, he was inspired to follow a career in coaching the sport of swimming.
As an instructor he is committed to providing a safe environment wherein each student can find as much success as possible and he enjoys sharing his competitive swimming background and aquatic knowledge with all of his athletes.
I would like to officially welcome Coach Bella to our coaching team. Bella began coaching in the Marin Swim League in 2006. She will be assisting the Sea Serpents 2 practices a week throughout the season.
Previous to Scott Valley she was the Head Coach for the Strawberry Seals, Assistant Coach for Lucas Valley Aquatics & Masters (USA Swimming), and the Terra Linda Orca's Assistant Coach. She has also trained swimmers in open water swimming for triathlons and the Tiburon Mile Swim.
Coach Bella has been an athlete since the age of two. She was a gymnast and dancer every fall and winter and a swimmer every spring and summer. She was a competitive gymnast in junior high and high school. She grew up competing in the Marin Swim League. In college, she spent one season diving and swimming. Bella has spent over half her life coaching. From P.E. to gymnastics, volleyball, soccer and swimming. She has coached swimmers from (Mommy & Me) babies to 74+. In college, she studied kinesiology and psychology. She resides in Terra Linda with her two sons ages 15 and 17.
"I enjoy helping a swimmer develop confidence as their skill set increases. Passing along my passion of swimming and sport is what it's all about for me." In the words of Fran Crippen, "Open your mind with enthusiasm for success."
